The "Nido" Environment

At Clear Lake Montessori, our Infant Community is a specialized "Nest" designed to support your baby's physical freedom, emerging language, and sense of security.

Clear Lake Montessori Infant Classroom

4:1 Dedicated Ratio

Your child receives focused, loving attention. Our low child-to-staff ratio ensures that every feeding, nap, and developmental milestone is met with care.

🥄

Independent Eating

We move away from high chairs. Instead, we use low "weaning tables" and child-sized chairs to foster independence and dignity during meals.

🏃

Freedom of Movement

No playpens or restrictive containers. Our spacious rooms feature soft mats, pull-up bars, and customized stairs to encourage natural movement.

🌙

Floor Beds & Rest

Instead of cribs, older infants transition to cozy floor mats. This Montessori practice promotes autonomy, allowing children to wake and observe safely.

Sensory Development

We engage curiosity with purposeful, natural materials. Infants explore textures, sounds, and visuals that build a cognitive foundation.

📱

Parent Connection

We believe in a partnership. You will receive open communication and daily updates to keep you connected to your child's rhythm.

A Day in the Nido

A gentle flow that gives infants the security to explore.

Arrival & Transition

Warm Welcome

We greet you and your baby at the door for a calm hand-off. We quickly check in on how they slept and ate, ensuring a smooth transition from your arms to ours.

Morning Cycle

Individual Exploration

Babies engage in "work" on clean, soft mats. Whether gazing at a mobile, grasping a wooden rattle, or practicing tummy time, they have freedom to move.

Nourishment

Lunch & Bottles

Mealtime is social. Infants who are ready sit at low "weaning tables" to practice self-feeding, while younger babies are held lovingly for bottle feeding.

Rest

Naps on Demand

Sleep is not forced. When an infant shows signs of tiredness, they are settled onto their personal floor bed. They sleep as long as their body needs.

Afternoon

Sensory & Outdoor Play

We engage in sensory-rich activities or take stroller walks to enjoy the fresh air, fostering a connection with nature.
